Parent attends sessions without child and implements skills learned with child at home

  • When children have problems, sometimes they don't have the words to talk about them.

  • Play gives children a way to communicate feelings they don't understand or can't express any other way.

  • Motivated parenting can be trained to be as effective as play therapists using play therapy skills with their own children.

What does your child need the most?  YOU!

Training can help parents:

  • Reduce or eliminate behavior problems

  • Enhance the parent-child relationship and marital relationship

  • Develop responsibility, creativity and self-control in children

  • By recognizing emotional needs, increase the child's self esteem and self-confidence

  • Increase parents' feelings of warmth for their children

  • Return control to parents by recognizing therapeutic limit setting

ADOPTIVE PARENTS SUPPORT GROUP

8 weeks to gather, support and share

Call our office for future dates

Being an adoptive parent encompasses so much - joy, grief, redemption, exhaustion - and many emotions in between. It is a unique and beautiful experience, but one that can sometimes feel isolating and overwhelming at the same time.

Please join us for an 8 week in-person* group where you will gather with other parents to explore these themes, as well as find support and connection with one another.

This group is open to parents with children of all ages, and anyone who has adopted, including: foster-adopt, international, domestic, kinship or embryo. A one hour intake session is required before registration is complete.

FACILITATED BY:
SARA COMBS, MA, LPC ASSOCIATE,
SUPERVISED BY ALLISON ECKELKAMP, MA, LPC-S, RPT-S

*This is subject to change, depending on CDC guidelines at the time group begins. A virtual group may be offered as an alternative.
