About me...
I am thrilled to join the team at Center for Relational Care as a counseling intern this fall. I bring with me 30 years of experience as an occupational therapist working with children with developmental disorders and sensory processing disorders. I started the professional counseling program at Texas State University later in life because I saw how families struggled to meet the needs of their children, and I witnessed the impact on the family system. It is my hope to be able to support these families more fully by utilizing counseling to create a foundation of healing and health. As a parent of three sons, I can understand and empathize with the joys and challenges parents face. My goals are to become a Registered Play Therapist, as well as obtain certification in CPRT (Child Parent Relationship Training).
Although my background is with children and families, it has been my privilege to work with adults and couples as well in through my practicum experience at the Texas State Counseling Center. I approach each client with compassion and empathy and humbly walk alongside them and witness God’s powerful healing through our work together.
In my spare time, I am an active member of my church and have been blessed to be part of the prayer ministry team for 20 years. I also was a leader in the children’s ministry program for 15 years. My favorite past-time is hanging out with family and friends. I love all animals, particularly dogs and cats. I am also an artist, and particularly enjoy drawing.
